What a configuration could hand over
A pipeline is useful when deals enter it with numbers attached. The configurator holds the dimensions, the options and a calculated price, so a connection can pass them on as the deal value and the contents of custom fields. The salesperson then starts from the specification instead of asking for it.
Person and organization
The contact details from the final step could create a person and, if the customer fills in a company, an organization the person is linked to.
Lead or deal
Depending on how you work, a configuration could arrive as a lead in the Leads Inbox for review, or straight away as a deal in the pipeline and stage you choose, valued at the calculated price.
Products on the deal
If you keep a product catalogue in Pipedrive, the configuration’s options could be added to the deal as products with quantity and price.
Custom fields
Dimensions, material and the 3D view link could go into the deal’s custom fields. Leads use the same custom fields as deals, so they could be filled either way.
What we need to connect it
An API token is enough for a simple connection, but it belongs to one user, so for long-term use we recommend an OAuth 2.0 app or a dedicated technical user.
Each Pipedrive account stores custom fields under its own keys, so the mapping is written for your account rather than taken from a template.
Development and testing would run in a Pipedrive developer sandbox account before anything touches your live account.
Worth deciding up front
- Pipedrive meters API calls against a daily token budget that grows with your plan and number of seats. A normal flow of enquiries uses little of it; bulk edits use more.
- Pipedrive allows one active API token per user. If someone regenerates it in the settings, integrations still using the old token stop working.
- The deal value’s currency should match the price list currency in the configurator. If you sell in several currencies, we agree which one is written.
Questions about this connection
Can an enquiry go to the Leads Inbox first and into the pipeline later?
Sending the enquiry to the Leads Inbox first is one of the options. The configuration would arrive as a lead with its fields filled, and the salesperson would convert it to a deal once they have reviewed it.
Will we see the individual items on the deal, not just the total?
If you keep products in Pipedrive, the options could be added to the deal as priced products. If not, the breakdown would stay in custom fields and a note.
Does this work on a lower plan?
The Pipedrive API is available on all plans, but a lower plan has a smaller daily call budget. Which features your plan includes, such as products on deals, we check before the design.
Other integrations
Put Pipedrive to work in your sales.
Tell us what you sell and how an enquiry is handled today. On the demo you will see the configurator, and we will go through which data could flow from it into your system.
