WooCommerce is the commerce layer for WordPress. It keeps data in your own database and it is open, so it can be reached into far more deeply than a hosted platform.
That openness is the advantage here. The configurator can put a line item into the cart at a price your rules produced, even where no ordinary WooCommerce price list would produce it, and the specification stays attached to the order all the way to dispatch.
